Heavy polling was recorded in Kannur, Ernakulam and Alappuzha assembly constituencies, which went to by polls on Saturday and it is estimated that 66 per cent of the voters exercised their franchise.
Kannur recorded the highest polling percentage of about 73 per cent. About 65 per cent of the voters in Alappuzha exercised their franchise. In Ernakulam, it is estimated that about 61.4 per cent of the people voted.
No untoward incident was reported from anywhere and the Central Police forces had been deployed at all the polling booths to ensure free and fair elections.
Meanwhile the voters of Makaparambu in Ernakulam constituency boycotted the poll in protest against the apathy of the elected representatives in solving their long-pending problems.
