“About Elly” and “Fishing Platform” shared the `Swarna Chakoram` (Golden Crow Pheasant), the top prize of the 14th International Film Festival of Kerala.
“True Noon” director Nosir Saidov bagged the `Rajata Chakoram` (Silver Crow Pheasant) award for the best director. The film also bagged the audience award. Madoda Ncayiyana’s “My Secret Sky” received the Rajata Chakoram for the best debut director.
The Federation of International Film Critics (FIPRESCI) prize was won by Gabriela David’s “A Fly in Ashes”. The FIPRESCI Award for the Best Malayalam Cinema went to Joshy Mathew's Pathaam Nilayile Theevandi (Train in the Tenth Floor). Read more… http://www.keralz.com

Sufiya Madhani arrested
Sufiya Madhani, wife of PDP leader Abdul Nazar Madhani, was arrested after the Kerala High Court denied her anticipatory bail in the Kalamassery bus burning case.
The Kerala High Court rejected the bail on the grounds that custodial interrogation was necessary in the case.

IFFK to showcase around 200 films
The 14th International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK 2009), beginning here on December 11, will see around 200 films from around the world and the country.
Veteran filmmaker Mrinal Sen will inaugurate the Fest here, where erstwhile actress Sharmila Tagore and French Ambassador to India Jerome Bonnafont are the chief guests.
Turkish director Atil Inac’s “A step into the darkness” is the inaugural film.
Mrinal Sen will be honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award on the occasion. Oscar winning sound editor and designer Resul Pookutty will also be honoured.
The competition section will showcase 14 films. The India Cinema Now and Malayalam Cinema Today will have seven films each and the World Cinema section has 52 entries..... Read more at www.keralz.com
